Brexit legislation under fire as it enters upper house - Reuters

The brexit legislation, which cleared the House of Commons this month, is set to have a tough time in parliament’s upper house.

Reuters report quotes the House of Lords Constitution Committee as saying that the legislation has “fundamental flaws”, including ministerial powers it considers too sweeping. "The bill is constitutionally unacceptable,” said committee chairwoman Ann Taylor.

The report released by the House of Lords Constitution Committee says, the bill grants ministers overly-broad powers to do whatever they think is ‘appropriate’ to correct ‘deficiencies’ in retained EU law.

The upper house will start debating on the legislation today and is expected to take until the summer for it to become law, says Reuters.
